Please note that 360 Trail Guide was developed to be viewed with a high speed internet connection. If you are using a dial up internet connection this site may not work properly. It implements large animations, flash, high quality images and videos that may not load at all with a dial up connection.

Most maps, state and interactive trail topographic maps use the Quicktime QTVR player. If you go to Search Maps or look at trail pages and A SECTION OF THE PAGE IS BLANK then you need to download Quicktime. It is free and it is safe and secure.

Please also make sure you turn off your pop-up blocker while viewing content on this site. I have limited the use of popups but for things like weather reports, viewing the legend or navigation instructions you will not see them when you click on the corresponding button unless you allow popups.

If you use Internet Explorer select tools at the top and click on turn off pop-up blocker. Don't forget to check it back when you are done browsing 360 Trail Guide.

If you use Mozilla Firefox select tools at the top, then options. Click on the content button on the top and uncheck pop-up blocker. Don't forget to check it back when you are done browsing 360 Trail Guide.

Flash is Required on several other pages like recently viewed, top rated, trail photo galleries and some buttons like "new users" and on the main home page introduction to using interactive maps in order to view them you must have a Flash viewer installed. Again It is free and it is safe and secure. Download it by clicking on the image below.

As far as using the maps and clicking on flash animations, remember that you have to click more than once to use or go to a link within the media. Why? Because of Microsoft and Internet Explorers added security almost any interactive program, even a rollover (image that changes when your mouse cursor scrolls over it) requires you to first click on it to activate it. This is so unwanted programs, viruses, or malicious code don't get automatically installed on your computer.

If you see a black grid load first on a 360, 180 panorama, or an interactive map it is because of the following; There is a high usage in your area, you haven't made all the necessary browser/software updates or you have spam and or viruses installed on your computer. Sometimes it will correct itself if you click and hold over the object then pan left to right. This is how you pan the objects. It will not work if your mouse cursor is somewhere else on the page or you haven't clicked over the object once to activate it.

How do you remove harmful files from your computer and increase the speed of your internet connection? I recommend a free antivirus program called AVG. For spam removal a good program is Spybot Search and Destroy. After you have installed them and finished with all the necessary tests reboot your computer and run Scandisk, then Disk Defragmentor (from your computers taskbar select Start, then all programs, next accessories, finally system tools). WARNING! Don't be fooled if you are on another website and a popup comes up saying you have spam, security issues, etc. you probably don't. This is a common ploy to put harmful files on your computer. DO NOT CLOSE the pop-up window with the typical X button instead right click on the tile for it on your taskbar and select close or just type Ctrl F4.
